X. Competition Methods (I) Implementation Standards
- In accordance with the latest athletics competition rules approved by the Chinese Athletic Association, the "World Athletics Competition and Technical Rules," the "World Athletics Label Road Race Regulations 2024," the Chinese Athletic Association Road Running Event Management Measures, and these marathon competition regulations.
- The relevant participation requirements for the 2024 National Half Marathon Championships are in accordance with the "2024 National Half Marathon Championships Competition Regulations" issued by the Chinese Athletic Association.
(II) Race Check-in All participants must wear the event number bib and wristband correctly. Participants must arrive at the designated area for check-in within the specified time. Invited elite athletes must check in at the exclusive check-in area and present the original passport or ID document during check-in.
(III) Starting Method Start in waves. Participants will be grouped based on their best performance in any "A-level event" certified by the Chinese Athletic Association, with event dates between January 1, 2023 (inclusive) and July 1, 2024 (inclusive), in either the marathon or half marathon. Participants will gather in the designated areas. The organizing committee will set up timing carpets at each check-in area. Participants must strictly follow the check-in sequence. After the race starts, participants must pass the check-in carpet of their area, then pass the front check-in carpets and the start timing carpet to have valid race results.
(IV) Start Signals The race will start with multiple gun signals, with specific methods notified to participants based on registration situations. If a participant starts invalidly (including starting in the wrong area or false start), they will not be stopped, but the referees will cancel their qualification.
(V) Cut-off Time To ensure the safety of participants, the race course will have time-limited traffic closures. Each section of the race course will have a cut-off time. Once the cut-off time is reached, the corresponding timing carpet will stop working, and the road section will gradually reopen to traffic. Participants who have not finished the corresponding distance within the cut-off time must stop the race and exit the course to avoid danger. Participants can take the sweep bus provided by the organizing committee to the finish area. In case of special circumstances, the organizing committee may close the course early, and participants must follow on-site arrangements.
Cut-off Time Table (calculated from the starting signal):
- Starting point of all events: 0 km - 15 minutes after the last signal
- Fun Run: Finish (approximately 5 km) - 1 hour 30 minutes
- Marathon and Half Marathon:
- 5 km - 1 hour
- 10 km - 1 hour 45 minutes
- 15 km - 2 hours 25 minutes
- 20 km - 3 hours
- Half Marathon: Finish (21.0975 km) - 3 hours 10 minutes
- Marathon:
- 25 km - 3 hours 45 minutes
- 30 km - 4 hours 30 minutes
- 35 km - 5 hours 15 minutes
- 40 km - 6 hours
- 42.195 km - 6 hours 15 minutes
(VI) Timing Method
- The organizing committee will provide timing services for all marathon (42.195 km) and half marathon (21.0975 km) participants. The Fun Run does not offer timing services.
- The results of the top eight men and women in the marathon will be based on gun time; the National Half Marathon Championships will be based on gun time; the half marathon will be based on net time.
- The race will provide net timing. Timing carpets (zones) will be set at the starting point, the assembly area for each wave, every 5 km point, 21.0975 km point, turn points, and finish points (marathon finish, half marathon finish). Participants must pass all timing carpets (zones) within the cut-off time. Missing any timing point will result in disqualification. Disposable timing chips will be distributed with the number bib before the race.
(VII) Bag Deposit and Retrieval Service Marathon and half marathon participants must deposit personal items at the designated deposit points. Large luggage or strollers are not allowed at the deposit points. Do not store valuables in the bag (e.g., mobile phones, ID documents, cash, keys, credit cards, laptops, etc.). The organizing committee will not handle complaints or compensation for lost items. Bag deposit and retrieval times will be notified. Unclaimed items after the deadline can be collected from the organizing committee within five working days after the race (October 21-25, 9:00-17:00). After this period, items will be considered abandoned.
The Fun Run does not offer bag deposit services.
(VIII) Drinks, Water, and Energy Supply Stations Starting from the starting point, a drink station will be set approximately every 5 km, with water and energy supply stations in between. Energy supply stations will be set at 12.5 km, 17.5 km, 22.5 km, 27.5 km, 32.5 km, and 37.5 km.
(IX) Race Apparel Participants can choose the size of the race apparel when submitting registration information. Race T-shirts will be distributed at the race kit collection site. Participants should plan to collect their T-shirts in a timely manner. Once distributed, T-shirts cannot be exchanged.
(X) Race Numbers The organizing committee will distribute race numbers uniformly. National Half Marathon Championships participants and elite marathon runners will wear two large race numbers (front and back). General participants must wear the large race number on the front and the small race number on the bag. Participants who do not wear the race number correctly, fold, or cover the race number will have their results canceled. Participants who do not wear the timing chip correctly will be disqualified.
(XI) Race Kit Collection
- Participants must follow the announcement on the 2024 Changsha Marathon official website to collect the race number bib, wristband, timing chip, and other race kits at the designated location and time.
- Participants must collect the race kits in person with their original ID. Proxy collection is not allowed.
- Participants must have the wristband put on by volunteers on-site. Removing, damaging, or transferring the wristband will result in disqualification.
- The organizing committee has the right to refuse race kit collection to participants who do not meet the qualifications or provide false documents and will not refund the registration fee.

Offenders will be publicly announced and may be banned from participating in the Changsha Marathon for 1-3 years or for life, with additional penalties reported to the Chinese Athletic Association.
The organizing committee will monitor the starting point, entire course, and finish line. Participants violating the competition regulations will be disqualified. Referees have the authority to stop participants' races and confiscate race numbers on the spot, disqualifying them for two years from the Changsha Marathon. After the race, depending on the severity, participants may be disqualified from the Changsha Marathon results and reported to the Chinese Athletic Association for further penalties:
